To savebattery power, observe the following:• Features that use Bluetooth technology, or allowingsuch features to run in the background while usingother features, increase the demand on battery power.Switch off Bluetooth when you do not need it.• Features that use wireless LAN (WLAN), or allowing suchfeatures to run in the background while using otherfeatures, increase the demand on battery power. TheWLAN on your Nokia device switches off when you arenot trying to connect, not connected to another accesspoint, or not scanning for available networks. Tofurther reduce battery consumption, you can specifythat your device not scan, or scans less often, foravailable networks in the background.• If you have set Packet data connection to Whenavailable in connection settings, and there is no packetdata coverage (GPRS), the device periodically tries toestablish a GPRS connection. To prolong the operatingtime of your device, select Menu > Ctrl. panel >Settings and Connection > Packet data > Packetdata connection > When needed.• The Maps application downloads new map informationwhen you scroll to new areas on the map, whichincreases the demand on battery power. You canprevent the automatic download of new maps.• If the signal strength of the cellular network variesmuch in your area, your device must scan for theavailable network repeatedly. This increases thedemand on battery power.If the network mode is set to dual mode in the networksettings, the device searches for the 3G network. Youcan set the device to use only the GSM network.
