request the code. Keep the new code secret and in asafe place separate from your device. If you forget thecode and your device is locked, your device will requireservice and additional charges may apply. Additionalcharges may apply, and all the personal data in yourdevice may be deleted. For more information, contacta Nokia Care Point or your device dealer.• Personal unblocking key (PUK) code and PUK2code — These codes (8 digits) are required to change ablocked PIN code or PIN2 code, respectively. If the codesare not supplied with the SIM card, contact the networkservice provider whose SIM card is in your device.• UPUK code — This code (8 digits) is required to changea blocked UPIN code. If the code is not supplied withthe USIM card, contact the network service providerwhose USIM card is in your device.• International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI)number — This number (15 or 17 digits) is used toidentify valid devices on the GSM network. Devices thatare, for example, stolen, can be blocked from accessingthe network. The IMEI number for your device can befound under the battery.Prolong battery lifeMany features in your device increase the demand onbattery power and reduce the battery life time. To savebattery power, observe the following:• Features that use Bluetooth technology, or allowingsuch features to run in the background while usingother features, increase the demand on battery power.Switch off Bluetooth when you do not need it.• Features that use wireless LAN (WLAN), or allowing suchfeatures to run in the background while using otherfeatures, increase the demand on battery power. TheWLAN on your Nokia device switches off when you arenot trying to connect, not connected to another accesspoint, or not scanning for available networks. Tofurther reduce battery consumption, you can specifythat your device not scan, or scans less often, foravailable networks in the background.• If you have set Packet data connection to Whenavailable in connection settings, and there is no packetdata coverage (GPRS), the device periodically tries toestablish a GPRS connection. To prolong the operatingtime of your device, select Menu > Ctrl. panel >Settings and Connection > Packet data > Packetdata connection > When needed.• The Maps application downloads new map informationwhen you scroll to new areas on the map, whichincreases the demand on battery power. You canprevent the automatic download of new maps.• If the signal strength of the cellular network variesmuch in your area, your device must scan for theavailable network repeatedly. This increases thedemand on battery power.If the network mode is set to dual mode in the networksettings, the device searches for the 3G network. Youcan set the device to use only the GSM network. To useonly the GSM network, select Menu > Ctrl. panel >Settings and Phone > Network > Networkmode > GSM.• The backlight of the display increases the demand onbattery power.
