230 Chapter 20 Moving and replacing telephonesN0008587 01Moving telephonesYou can move an Business Communications Manager digital telephone to a new location withinthe system without losing its programmed settings if the telephone has been enabled withSet relocation in system programming under Feature programming. When you enable Setrelocation (automatic telephone relocation), the internal numbers, autodial settings, and personalspeed dial codes remain with the telephone when you disconnect the telephone.If you connect a different telephone to the jack before you reconnect the moved telephone, the newtelephone takes the programmed settings. The Business Communications Manager system can nolonger identify the old telephone.After you plug a moved set into a new jack, the Business Communications Manager system cantake 45 seconds to identify the telephone. Programming relocation takes three minutes tocomplete. Wait for this to occur before you change any settings for the telephone in the system.For IP telephones to retain features, the Keep DN Alive setting for the telephone programmingmust be set to Yes in system programming on the Capabilities screen in the DN record for thetelephone.IfWarning: If you disconnect a relocated telephone before the relocation programming iscomplete, the telephone can lose the programmed settings.Note: Automatic telephone relocation is disabled by default.
