140 Chapter 9 Connecting the cablesN0060612N0060612Connecting power to the BCM systemThe BCM system is available in North American and International versions. Ensure that the powersupply is correct for your location. The BCM200 and BCM400 systems have standard powersupplies and redundant power supplies that adjust automatically to the required voltage.Follow this procedure to check the voltage and wiring, and to power up the system. To connect power and wiring1 Check all wiring before connecting power to the BCM units.2 Connect the BCM main unit power cord to an electrical outlet that is a non-switchable,third-wire ground AC outlet. If you use a power bar, plug the power cords into the power bar and connect the power bar tothe AC outlet.3 Connect the BCM expansion unit power cord to an electrical outlet that is a non-switchable,third-wire ground AC outlet.Warning: Leakage currentsService personnel must be alert to the possibility of high leakage currents becomingavailable on metal system surfaces during power line fault events near network lines. These leakage currents normally safely flow to protective earth ground through the powercord.System shutdown: You must disconnect the media bay module cables from the systembefore disconnecting the power cord from a grounded outlet.System startup: You must reconnect the power cords to a grounded outlet beforereconnecting the cables to the media bay modules.Warning: Connecting powerAlways connect power to the BCM main unit and expansion unit before you reconnect thecabling to the front of the units.Danger: Do not fasten power supply cordsDo not fasten the BCM main unit or expansion unit power supply cords to any buildingsurface.
