164 Chapter 10 Installing telephones and peripheralsN0060612N0060612Refer to Chapter 11, “Installing the analog terminal adapter,” on page 169 for the requirements andprocedure for installing the device.Central Answering Position (CAP/eCAP)A Central Answering Position (CAP) provides additional auto-dial positions or additional lineappearances.A 7316E telephone can support up to 9 OKIMs. Each module provides 24 programmable keyswith indicators. A telephone can be configured as an eCAP, which allows it to support lineappearances on the KIM buttons. If the telephone is configured as an eCAP, a maximum of fourKIMs can be added (eKIMs). A T7316E/KIM configuration that is not configured as an eCAP cansupport up to nine KIMs. In this configuration, only memory button programming is supported. Asupplementary power supply is required after the fifth KIM is added.Refer to the CAP user card for instructions about using a CAP. For more information, refer to theBCM 4.0 Device Configuration Guide.Telephone port and DN cross-referenceThe media bay module that analog and digital telephones connect to dictates DNs and portnumbers. Use Table 62 and Table 63 to identify which port connects to each telephone. For futurereference, put a check mark beside the ports where there are telephones installed.Note: ProgrammingThe T7316E+eKIM does not support auto-dial keys programmed with Hunt groupDNs.Note: The following table is based on a system with three-digit DNs and a start DN of221. If your system has longer DNs, the system automatically adds a repeat of the firstdigit for each additional DN length unit; for example, 221 becomes 2221.Also, note on the following tables that DN numbering differs between systems that wereupgraded from BCM 2.5 software and systems that were new with BCM 3.0 or newersoftware.Table 62 Cross-referencing ports and DNs on a 2.5 system upgraded to 3.0 or newer software (Sheet 1 ofPins Port*DS 30bus 02DNsDS 30bus 03DNsDS 30bus 04DNsDS 30bus 05DNsDS 30bus 06DNsDS 30bus 07DNs26/1 X01 221 237 253 269 285 30127/2 X02 222 238 254 270 286 302
