2 Overview of printer functions2-4 IC-2082.1.2 Printing flowThe following outlines the flow of operations for using this printing system as a printer. The printer driver receives print commands from applications.Data is transmitted to this machine over a USB interface when this machine is used via a USB connection,or over an Ethernet interface (TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, or AppleTalk) when this machine is used via an Ethernetconnection. The data is then delivered from this machine to the image controller, which performs imagerasterization (development of output characters and images to bitmap data). Finally, this data is printed fromthis machine.2 NoteWhen a connection is made with the USB port, the local interface kit is required.Original documents can be scanned in the copy function or network scan function while this machine isoperating as a printer. To use the copy functions, press the [Copy] key on the control panel. When a print job is received during copying, the data is stored in the memory of this machine. When thecopying is completed, the print job is automatically printed.PrintHard diskPrinting system Secure PrintSave in user boxPS/PCL processing (rasterizing)Image processingUSBPrinter driverApplicationUsed with a USBconnectionComputerApplicationPrinter driverEthernet (TCP/IP,IPX/SPX, or AppleTalk)Used with anetwork connection
