SPECIAL MODES5-4EraseThe erase function is used to erase the shadow lines on copies produced when copying thick originals or books. Theerase modes that can be selected are shown below. The erase width is approximately 1/2" (10 mm) in it's initialsetting.EDGE ERASEEliminates shadow lines around the edges ofcopies caused when heavy paper or a book is usedas an original.CENTER ERASEEliminates shadow lines produced by the bindingsof bound documents.EDGE + CENTER ERASEEliminates shadow lines around the edges of copiesand eliminates the shadow at the center of copies.1 Touch the [ERASE] key on the specialmodes screen.The erase setting screenwill appear.The erase icon ( ) willalso appear in the upperleft of the screen toindicate that the functionis turned on.2 Select the desired erase mode.Select one of the threeerase modes. Theselected key will behighlighted.3 Adjust the amount of erase and touch the[OK] key.Use the and keysto set the erase width toany value from 0" to 1" inincrements of 1/8" (0 to10 mm in 1 mm).4 Touch the [OK] key on the special modesscreen.You will return to the main screen of copy mode.NOTEThe initial setting for the erasure width can be changed in the administrator settings to any value from 0 to 1" (0to 20 mm).
