It also results ina slight saving of battery power.To change the Beam Receive setting:n Tap the Beam Receive pick list and select On or Off.Connection preferencesThe Connection Preferences screen enables you to define the settingsused to perform different types of HotSync operations. The screendisplays a list of available configurations that are ready to be furtherdefined; the list varies depending on the kind of software you’veadded to your handheld.For example, a modem connection appears on the list. If you have thismodem, you only need to specify the phone setup (and networkconnection — if required) to complete the configuration.Note: For information about modems that are compatible with yourhandheld, go to the web site: http://www.palm.com.You can also create custom configurations. There are four possiblekinds of connections.Serial to PC: A local HotSync connection: the directserial connection between your handheld and yourcomputer. Your handheld is connected by its serialport to the HotSync cradle/cable, and the cradle/cableis attached to a serial (COM) port of your computer.Serial to Modem: A connection between a modemattached to the serial port of your handheld and amodem that is part of your computer.IrCOMM to PC: A connection between the IR port ofyour handheld and the infrared device of yourcomputer.IrCOMM to Modem: A connection between the IR portof your handheld and a modem. The modem can beattached to a computer or some other devicecontaining an IR port such as a cell phone.
