105Adjustments and Settings for Recording : Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC)Adjustments and Settings for RecordingCAC is a function that automatically corrects registration errors mainly caused by slight chromatic aberration, which cannot becorrected with lenses, and minimizes color weepage on the images.Chromatic aberration means magnification ratio chromaticaberration. Magnification ratio chromatic aberration iscaused by differences in the red (R), green (G), and blue (B)refractive indexes of a lens. The lens itself correctschromatic aberration but the astigmatism remains in thesurrounding area in particular. The zooming ratio, iris, andfocal distance involves complicated chromatic aberrationphenomena in a zoom lens. Images have registration errors. To correct the chromatic aberration, record the chromaticaberration characteristics of the lens for the zooming ratio, iris, and focal distance in the unit and connect a lens suitablefor these characteristics. Then perform the correction inaccordance with the zooming ratio, iris, and focus distanceof the lens. The CAC data for the following 4 kinds of lenses are storedin the unit at the time of shipment from the factory.¡NoteAfter the release of this unit, visit our Web site at the addressgiven below for details on new lenses compatible with thisfunction and any changes in this function.https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/For the 4 lenses listed on the left1 Install the lens on the unit and connect the lensconnector.2 Open the screen on the MAINTENANCEpage.3 Turn on the CAC CONTROL.If the lens product number recorded on the unitcoincides with the product number of the connectedlens, the CAC data stored in the unit are read outautomatically.1 When the menu is not displayed on the viewfinderscreen, press the MODE CHECK button. If letters of the “CAC” are indicated at the left top of theviewfinder screen, the CAC is operating properly. If theletters of “CAC” are not indicated, the CAC is notoperating.2 Open screen on the VF page andset the menu option CAC to “ON”, and then the letters of“CAC” are indicated in the left top of the viewfinderscreen.Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC)What is the chromatic aberration?Chromatic aberration compensation functionIndication on the unit Supporting lens model No.HA16°6.3BERM-M58 HA16°6.3BERM-M58HA22°7.8BERM-M58 HA22°7.8BERM-M58HJ17e°7.6B IASE HJ17E°7.6B IASEHJ22e°7.6B IASE HJ22E°7.6B IASEBGRCAC operationConfirmation of the CAC operation status
