Record mode32LSQT0862x To use the zoom microphone functionInterlocked with the zooming operation, themicrophone will clearly capture sounds far awaywith the tele-shot or those in the vicinity with thewide-angle shot.pSet to Tape Recording Mode.1 Set [ADVANCE] >> [ZOOM MIC] >> [ON].x About the variable speed zoomfunctionpWhen pushing the [W/T] lever as far as it will go,you can zoom from 1M to 10Min 1.0 second atthe maximum.pThe zoom speed varies according to the amountof movement of the [W/T] lever.pFor the Magic Wire Remote Control withNarration Mic, the zoom speed changes in2 stages.pThe variable speed zoom function cannot beused with the remote control.Recording yourselfYou can record yourself while viewing the LCDmonitor. You can record persons in front of theCamcorder while showing them the image. Theimage is horizontally flipped as if you see a mirrorimage. (The image to be recorded is the same asthat recording.)1 Rotate the LCD monitor towards the lensside.pWhen the LCD monitor is opened, theviewfinder will be automatically turned off. If theLCD monitor is rotated towards the lens sidethough, then the viewfinder will be activated.pWhen the LCD monitor is rotated towards thelens side, the icon will not be displayed even ifyou push the center of the joystick.Quick startThis Camcorder will be put into standby inapprox. 1.7 seconds after the power is turned on.pThis is only activated in the following cases.pA tape or a card is inserted, while the TapeRecording Mode is set.pA card is inserted, while the Card RecordingMode is set.1 Press the [QUICK START] button.pThe quick start recording lamp lights up.(Press the button again to cancel it.)2 Set the [OFF/ON] switch to [OFF].pThe quick start is now ready.3 Set the [OFF/ON] switch to [ON].pThis Camcorder will be put into a recordingpause in approx. 1.7 seconds after it is turned on.x To cancel the quick start when thepower is [OFF]Press and hold the [QUICK START] button forapprox. 2 seconds. The lamp will go off and theCamcorder will be completely turned off.pIf the standby continues for approx. 30 minutes,then the lamp will go off and the Camcorder willbe completely turned off.pWhen you rotate the mode dial or remove thebattery, the quick start recording lamp is turnedoff and the quick start mode is canceled. If theCamcorder is turned on and the Tape/CardRecording Mode is set though, the lamp turnson and the quick start mode is restored.pWhen the Camcorder is quick-started with thewhite balance on automatic, it may take sometime until the white balance is adjusted if thescene being recorded has a light source differentfrom the scene last recorded. (When theMagicPix function is used, however, the whitebalance of the scene last recorded is retained.)pThe zoom magnification differs from when it is inthe quick start standby mode and when therecording starts.pSince about half the power of normal recording isused in quick start standby, using quick start reducesthe time during which pictures can be recorded.ZOOMSTARTQUICK
