22TroubleshootingSteam is coming from the ovenDuring cooking, food naturally produces steam,particulary when cooking foods with high watercontent (e.g. oven chips). There may be somesteam visible at the grille at the rear of thehotplate. This is perfectly normal. Steam cancondense to water droplets on the cool outertrim or the oven door. It may be necessaryduring cooking to wipe away any moisture with asoft cloth. This will also help to prevent soilingand discolouration of the oven exterior bycooking vapours.Take care when opening the oven door as theremay be a momentary puff of steam when theoven door is opened. Stand well back and allowany steam to disperse.The oven fan is noisyThe note of the oven fan may change as theoven heats up - this is perfectly normal.What cleaning materials are recommended forthe cooker?See the ‘Cleaning’ section of the Easy Guide fora full list of recommended cleaning materials.We do not recommend Mr. Muscle, as itcontains chemicals which may damage thesurfaces of your cooker.The knobs get hot when I use the oven orthe grill, can I avoid this?Yes, this is caused by heat rising from the ovenor the grill, and heating them up. Don’t leave theoven door open. Make sure that the grill pan ispushed right back to the ‘backstop’ whengrilling.If there is an installation problem and I don’tget my original installer to come back to fixit who pays?You do. Service organisations will charge fortheir call outs if they are correcting work carriedout by your original installer. It’s in your interestto track down your original installer.Current Operated Earth Leakage BreakersWhere the cooker installation is protected by a30 milliamp sensitivity residual current device(RCD), the combined use of your cooker andother domestic appliances may occasionallycause nuisance tripping. In these instances thecooker circuit may need to be protected byfitting 100mA device. This work should becarried out by a qualified electrician.Food is cooking too slowly, too quickly, orburningCooking times may differ from your previousoven. Check that you are using therecommended temperatures and shelf positions.See pages 16 -17. The oven control settingsand cooking times are intended to be used onlyas a guide. Individual tastes may require thetemperature to be altered either way, to get theresults you want. Try cooking at a highertemperature setting. Is the oven roof in?The oven is not cooking evenlyDo not use a tin or tray larger than 320mm x305mm.If you are cooking a large item, be prepared toturn it round during cooking.If two shelves are used, check that space hasbeen left for the heat to circulate. When abaking tray is put into the oven, make sure it isplaced centrally on the shelf.Check that the door seal is not damaged andthat the door catch is adjusted so that the dooris held firmly against the seal.A dish of water when placed on the shelf shouldbe the same depth all over. (For example, if it isdeeper at the back, then the back of the cookershould be raised up or the front lowered). If thecooker is not level arrange for your supplier tolevel it for you.Oven not coming on when turned onmanuallyIs the power on?
