6-2 EB 3018 ENStart-upRisk of hearing loss or deafness due to loudnoise.Noise emission (e.g. cavitation or flashing)may occur during operation caused by theprocess medium and the operating condi-tions.Î Wear hearing protection when workingnear the valve. Before start-up or putting the device back in-to service, make sure the following condi-tions are met:− The regulator is properly installed intothe pipeline (see the 'Installation' sec-tion).− The leak and function tests have beencompleted successfully (see the 'Testingthe regulator' section).− The prevailing conditions in the plantsection concerned meet the regulator siz-ing requirements (see information under'Intended use' in the 'Safety instructionsand measures' section).6.1 Start-up and putting thedevice back into operation1. Depending on the field of application, allow the regulator to cool down orwarm up to reach ambient temperaturebefore start up.2. Slowly open the shut-off valves in thepipeline. Slowly opening these valvesprevents a sudden surge in pressure andWARNING! high flow velocities which can damagethe valve.3. Check the regulator to ensure it functionsproperly. Before starting up the plant, make sure thefollowing conditions are met:− The control line is open (needle valve)and correctly connected.6.2 Starting up the plant1. Open the shut-off valves slowly prefera-bly starting from the upstream pressureside. Afterwards, open all the valves onthe consumer side (downstream of theregulator).2. Fill the plant slowly with the process me-dium. Avoid pressure surges.3. Make sure that the pressure rises simulta-neously upstream and downstream of theregulator to avoid damaging the balanc-ing bellows. The restriction (2.7) must be open while fill-ing the plant.Î Put the flow regulator into operation byslowly opening the shut-off valves prefer-ably starting from the return flow pipe.Î Vent the bellows housing of valves bal-anced by a bellows (DN 125 and larger)at the stopper (8) located at the side.Note
