7.5PROBLEM SOLVINGSolving General Printing ProblemsProblemThe printer prints, butthe text is wrong,garbled, or incomplete.Pages print, but aretotally blank.Possible CauseThe printer cable isloose or defective.The wrong printer driverwas selected.The software applicationis malfunctioning.The operating system ismalfunctioning.The toner cartridge isdefective or out of toner.The sealing tape maystill be in the tonercartridge.The file may have blankpages.Some parts, such as thecontroller or the boardmay be defective.SolutionDisconnect the printer cable andreconnect it. Try a print job that youknow works. If possible, attach thecable and printer to another computerand try a print job that you knowworks. Finally, try a new printer cable.Check the application’s printerselection menu to make sure that yourprinter is selected.Try printing a job from anotherapplication.If printing from Windows (anyversion), exit to a Dos prompt andverify functionality with the followingcommand: At a C:\ prompt, type DirLPT1, then press Enter. (Thisassumes you are connected to LPT1.)Exit Windows and reboot thecomputer. Turn the printer off and thenback on again.Replace the toner cartridge.Remove the toner cartridge and pullout the sealing tape. Reinstall thetoner cartridge, and check by printinga demo page.Check the file to make sure that itdoes not contain blank pages.Contact a service representative.
