13.12 < Troubleshooting>Common Windows problemsNoteRefer to Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000/XP(32/64bit)/2003(32/64bit) User’s Guide that came with your PC for furtherinformation on Windows error messages.Faxes do not storein memory.There may not be enough memory space to storethe fax. If the display shows the Memory Fullmessage, delete from memory any faxes you nolonger need and then try again to store the fax.Blank areasappear at thebottom of eachpage or on otherpages, with a smallstrip of text at thetop.You may have chosen the wrong paper settingsin the user option setting. For details about papersettings, see page 5.7.Condition Suggested solutions“File in Use”message appearsduring installation.Exit all software applications. Remove allsoftware from the StartUp Group, then restartWindows. Reinstall the printer driver.“Error Writing toLPTx” messageappears.• Ensure that the cables are connected correctly,and that the machine is switched on.• If bi-directional communication is not turned onin the driver, it will also cause this message.“GeneralProtection Fault”,“Exception OE”,“Spool32”, or“Illegal Operation”messages appear.Close all other applications, reboot Windows andtry printing again.“Fail To Print”, “Aprinter timeouterror occurred.”messages appear.These messages may appear during printing.Just keep waiting until the machine finishesprinting. If the message appears in standby modeor after printing has been completed, check theconnection and/or whether an error has occurred.Condition Suggested solutions Common PostScript problems (SCX-4725FN only)The following situations are PS language specific and may occur whenseveral printer languages are being used.NoteTo receive a printed or screen-displayed message when PostScripterrors occur, open the Print Options window and click the desiredselection next to the PostScript errors section.Problem Possible cause Suggested solutionsPostScript filecannot beprinted.The PostScriptdriver may not beinstalled correctly.• Install the PostScript driver,referring to the SoftwareSection.• Print a configuration pageand verify that the PS versionis available for printing.• If the problem persists,contact a servicerepresentative.“Limit CheckError” messageappears.The print job wastoo complex.You might need to reduce thecomplexity of the page or installmore memory.A PostScripterror pageprints.The print job maynot be PostScript.Make sure that the print job is aPostScript job. Check to seewhether the softwareapplication expected a setup orPostScript header file to besent to the machine.When print adocument inMacintosh withAcrobatReader 6.0 orhigher, colorsprintincorrectly.The resolutionsetting in theprinter driver maynot be matchedwith that inAcrobat Reader.Make sure that the resolutionsetting in your printer drivermatches that in AcrobatReader.
