The Fax Machine3−5Chapter 3Sending a Fax AutomaticallyTo send a fax automatically, you must have already storednumbers into either One−Touch button or two−digit SpeedDial locations, or Group Dial. To learn how to register One−Touch Dial, Speed Dial, or Group Dial, see “AutomaticDialling” on page 2−1.1 Load your document(s) top down in the document traywith the printed side facing away from you (up to 15pages).2 Select the One−Touch button, Speed Dial location, orGroup Dial location which has the number(s) youwant.• If a document is loaded when the remote fax machineanswers, the machine scans the document into memoryand begins to transmit. You can check that a fax hasbeen received by pressing OHD/V.Req to talk after atransmission.• For more information on the Voice Request feature, see“Voice Request” on page 3−14. When the last page ofyour document has been sent successfully, the machinebeeps and returns to Standby Mode.• If something went wrong during your transmission, anerror message appears in the display, see “LCD ErrorMessages” on page 7−13. Press Stop to clear themessage and try to send the document again. You canset your machine to print out a Sending Confirm auto−matically. For more information, see “User Reports”on page 6−5.Automatic RedialWhen you send a fax, if the number you have dialled is busyor there is no answer, the machine will attempt to redial thenumber every three minutes up to two times.Before redialling, the display shows ‘RETRY REDIAL?’ toask if you want to redial the number or not.If you want to redial the number immediately:1 Press Start/Enter when ‘RETRY REDIAL?’ appears inthe display.2 Press Stop to cancel redialling.The machine returns to Standby Mode.
