Faxing ProblemsSymptomThe SmartJet will not dial.You are unable to senddocuments.You are unable to receivedocuments manually.You are unable to receivedocuments automatically.The SmartJet dials a number,but fails to make a connectionwith a remote fax machine.Cause and Solution• Make sure that a document to be sent is set in the manualfeeder. See page 2.29.• The unit waits a specified time expecting the next sheet willbe in.• Your SmartJet telephone line connection may be wrong.Look at the back of your SmartJet. Make sure the modulartelephone cord is securely plugged into the SmartJet’s Telconnector and the telephone jack on the wall. If you will beusing a telephone with your SmartJet, the telephone shouldbe connected to the Ext.Tel connector.• Make sure ythat our telephone line is set up to use theproper dialling method for your area, tone or pulse. Seepage 2.42.• The remote fax machine may be turned off, out of recordingpaper, or unable to answer incoming calls. Speak with theremote operator and ask for the problem to be rectified• Make sure that you have installed a black print cartridge.Your SmartJet cannot print out the received fax with acolour cartridge installed.• Make sure that your unit is set up for automatic receiving,(FAX) mode. See page 2.42.• A telephone connected to the same line as the SmartJet isoff-hook. Hang up the telephone handset.• Your SmartJet is not connected properly to the telephoneline.• Make sure that the paper is loaded in the automatic paperfeeder.• Make sure that you have installed a black print cartridge.Your SmartJet cannot print out the received fax with acolour cartridge installed.• Make sure that the paper is loaded in the automatic paperfeeder.• Make sure that your unit is set up for manual receiving,TEL mode.
