76Picture MessagesMultimedia Message Service (MMS) is a messagingservice very similar to Short Message Service(SMS). It provides automatic and immediatedelivery of personal multimedia messages fromphone to phone or from phone to e-mail.In addition to the familiar text content of textmessages, multimedia messages can containimages, graphics, voice and audio clips. An MMSmessage is a multimedia presentation in a singleentry. It is not a text file with attachments.Using the MMS feature, your phone can receivemultimedia messages. You can also send picturemessages, which are short messages that containimages, such as your photos or graphics youdownloaded from the Internet. This function isavailable only if it is supported by your serviceprovider. Only phones that offer picture messagefeatures can receive and display picture messages.Inbox (Menu 2.1)Viewing a Message When You Receive itWhen a new multimedia message comes in, thedisplay shows a text notification along with thesender’s number.1. Press the View soft key to view the message.The display shows brief information about themessage, such as the sender’s number, themessage size and the subject.If you want to view the message later in theInbox, press the Exit soft key.Picture Messages772. To scroll through the message information,press the or key.While viewing the information, press the Optionssoft key to use the following options:Retrieve: retrieves the message from the MMSserver.Delete: deletes the message.More Information: shows you detailedinformation about the message.Viewing a Received Message in the InboxWhen you access the Inbox menu (Menu 2.1), thelist of multimedia messages you received displayswith the senders’ phone numbers, if they areavailable in your Phonebook, or subjects. The iconson the left tell you the status of the messages.• : Messages you have already read.• : Messages you haven’t read yet.1. Select a message on the list and press theSelect soft key.The display presents the message and scrolls tothe next page, if it has one, after a specifiedtime; for details about setting the time, seepage 86.2. Press the OK soft key to go to the message viewscreen.Or, the display automatically switches to thescreen.
