When the charger LEDglows red, press the conditioning button untilthe indicator flashes amber. Release the condi-tioning button. The LED will flash amber whilethe battery is being discharged. Once thebattery is discharged, it will charge normally.The battery is ready to be used again when thecharger LED glows green.To long condition the batteryLong conditioning the battery with the fastcharger will put the battery through a numberof conditioning cycles and will check thebatteryís capacity on the last cycle.To long condition the battery, turn off theradio. Press and hold the conditioning buttonwhile inserting the battery/radio. Continueholding the conditioning button until theindicator flashes amber. When the indicatorflashes amber, release the conditioningbutton.The long condition cycle will take approxi-mately 24 hours.Once charged, the chargerís indicator will glowgreen if the battery is in good condition. Theindicator will flash red if the battery is wellbelow optimum capacity; consult your Taitdealer.Repairing the fast chargerThe assembly of the fast charger is shown inFigure E-3.Depress the release tab in the base of the charg-er using the end of a flat-bladed screwdriver.Holding the lever in, gently pull the body awayfrom the base.
