Your radiocan be programmed to override RF squelch usingthe monitor key ( ), allowing all activity on achannel to be heard, including noise.Activating squelch override allows you to hear weakbut intelligible transmissions.MonitorThe monitor key ( ) can be programmed tooverride one or more of the muting controls. In themost common configuration, monitor operates inthe following way:1. Press the monitor key briefly (less than onesecond) to override CTCSS/DCS or selectivecall mute, or both. Press the monitor key againto reactivate CTCSS/DCS or selective call mute.Note: If hookswitch monitoring is pro-grammed, lifting the microphone off themicrophone clip has the same effect.2. Press and hold the monitor key for longer thanone second to activate RF squelch override.
