22 5-Tone SignalingDialing 5-Tone Group CallsThe way you dial 5-tone group calls depends on theway your radio was programmed. Group calls canbe dialed using the # character, the * character, orboth. If you are unsure what characters you can usefor dialing 5-tone group calls, consult your systemmanager or the person who programmed yourradio. You may be able to dial the digits common to allmembers of the group and then dial the # char-acter ( key), as a substitute for all theremaining digits.For example, dialing 12# sends the number12GGGG (six digit 5-tone identity). You may be able to dial the group tone individu-ally, using the * character ( key).For example, dialing 12*4# sends the number12G4GG (six digit 5-tone identity).In the following example, you wish to make a5-tone group call to all numbers beginning with 37(five digit 5-tone identity).
