68Chapter 4 Operator MenuUnidirectionalThe Unidirectional feature affects both print quality and printing speed. Bysetting this feature, you can configure the printer to print in both directions ofthe shuttle sweep (bidirectional), or to print in one direction only(unidirectional).• Disable (default). The printer will print all data in both directions of theshuttle sweep (bidirectional printing). This choice produces higher printingspeed.• Enable. The printer will print all data in only one direction of the shuttlesweep (unidirectional printing). Although enabling this feature reducesprint speed, it enhances the vertical alignment of dots and producescleaner, sharper barcodes and text.Power StackerThis parameter allows you to enable or disable the power paper stacker(provided this option is installed).Auto ElevatorThis parameter exists only on printers with the power paper stacker installed. The power stacker has a sensor which detects paper movement and raisesthe stacker as the printed paper stack grows. If the printer has been printingfor three minutes continually and the sensor has not detected any growth inthe paper stack, the stacker raises itself 1/4 inch automatically.• Enable (default). The automatic elevator on the power stacker operatesnormally.• Disable. The stacker does not raise automatically every three minutesand is entirely dependent on the sensor. Disable is used with extremelyhigh-quality print jobs that take a long time to print.
