68 TASCAM DP-008Overview of partitionsAs described in “Partitions and songs” (page47), SD cards formatted by this unit aredivided into partitions. MTR partitions arefor recording data while the FAT partitioncan be accessed with a personal computer.High-capacity cards can have multiple MTRpartitions. In this case, you can use the MTRpartitions for different songs, for example,or copy songs to a different MTR partitionsto save their information. The FAT partitionis FAT32 format and can be accessed by acomputer connected to this unit by USB. ThisFAT partition is used to save songs and exportstereo master tracks to computers, as well asto allow this unit to import audio files intosongs, for example. For this reason, two stepsare necessary to copy from a MTR partitionand a computer. You can also format an entirecard or individual partition as well as changethe divisions between partitions (repartition) asnecessary.CAUTIONFormatting and repartition operationscannot be undone!NOTEThe FAT (File Allocation Table) format•is a disk format that can be read by acomputer.SD and SDHC card that are at least 512MB•in size can be used.Formatting cards andsetting partition sizesThis operation formats the entire card andallows you set MTR partition sizes for high-capacity cards.CAUTIONThis operation erases all the data on thecard and cannot be undone!
