70 TASCAM DP-008Reformatting the FATpartitionYou can also reformat just the FAT partition.The size of the FAT partition cannot bechanged.CAUTIONYou cannot undo this operation! All dataon the FAT partition will be erased, so becertain that you will not lose anythingimportant when reformatting.1 When the recorder is stopped, press theMENU key to open the MENU screen.2 Turn the DATA wheel to select CARD, andpress the F4 (¥) key to open the CARDmenu screen.3 Turn the DATA wheel to select FATREFORMAT, and press the F4 (¥) key.A pop-up message warning that all data onthe FAT partition will be erased appears.4 Press the F3 (YES) key to reformat theFAT partition.When reformatting finishes the• CARD menuscreen reopens.To cancel reformatting, press the• F4 (NO)key.Initializing SD cardsIf you want to use an SD card that wasused with this unit, we recommend that youinitialize it.When you initialize an SD card, the entire cardis formatted as FAT32.1 When the recorder is stopped, press theMENU key to open the MENU screen.2 Turn the DATA wheel to select CARD, andpress the F4 (¥) key to open the CARDmenu screen.3 Turn the DATA wheel to select the SDINITIALIZE item and press the F4 (¥)key.A pop-up message warning that all data onthe card will be erased appears.4 Press the F3 (YES) key to initialize theentire card and format it as FAT32.To cancel initialization, press the• F4 (NO)key.NOTEAfter initializing an SD card, it is necessaryto format it if you want to use it with theDP-008 again.
