The cylindercould fall if not properly supportedwhen the pivot pin is removed.8 Carefully remove the cylinder from the machine.Crushing hazard. The lift cylindercould become unbalanced andfall if not properly supported whenremoved from the machine.3-3Primary Boom Lift CylinderHow to Remove thePrimary Boom Lift CylinderThe primary boom lift cylinder raises and lowersthe primary boom. The primary boom lift cylinderis equipped with a counterbalance valve to preventmovement in the event of a hydraulic line failure.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fi tting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or thehose end must be replaced. All connections mustbe torqued to specifi cation during installation.Refer to Section 2, Hydraulic Hose and FittingTorque Specifi cations.1 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoseson the lift cylinder. Cap the fi ttings on thecylinder.Bodily injury hazard. Sprayinghydraulic oil can penetrate andburn skin. Loosen hydraulicconnections very slowly to allowthe oil pressure to dissipategradually. Do not allow oil to squirtor spray.2 Attach a lifting strap of suitable capacity froman overhead crane to the lift cylinder.3 Remove the pin retaining fastener from the liftcylinder rod end pivot pin.4 Using a soft metal drift, remove the lift cylinderrod end pivot pin.Crushing hazard.
