Service and Repair Manual December 2019Boom Components50 SX™-150 Part No. 1268496GTRemove the #3 and #4 boom tubes:12 At the platform end, remove the #4 boomretract bolt and secure the retract cables to the#4 boom tube.13 Tag and disconnect the harness to limit switch3RS and 4EOS. Remove the bracket and limitswitch from the #2 boom tube.Tip-over hazard. Failure toinstall the correct proximityand/or limit switches in thecorrect location will result in themachine tipping over, resultingin death or serious injury.14 Remove the red locking brackets from the #4extend cable pivot assembly.15 Remove the nuts on the #4 extend cables andremove the #4 pivot assembly.16 At the pivot end of the machine, remove theshims from the wear pads between the #2 and#3 boom tubes.Note: Pay careful attention to the location andamount of shims used with each wear pad.17 Using a strap, secure the #2 tube to the #1tube.18 At the platform end, remove the shims fromthe lower channel and upper side wear padsbetween the #2 and #3 boom tubes.Note: Pay careful attention to the location andamount of shims used with each wear pad.19 Attach the #3 boom tube to a forklift, and liftthe tube enough to relieve the pressure fromthe lower wear pads, begin sliding the tubefrom the boom assembly.Note: Make sure the tube remains parallel to the #2boom tube while removing.20 When approximately 10 feet of the #3 boomtube remains in the #2 boom tube, attach astrap from a suitable overhead lifting deviceand slightly lift the tube.Crushing hazard. The #3 and#4 boom tubes may becomeunbalanced and fall when theyare removed from the # 2 boomtube if it is not properlysupported and attached to theoverhead crane.Note: During removal, the overhead crane strap willneed to be adjusted for proper balancing.21 Remove the fasteners securing the lower wearpads between the #2 and #3 boom tubes.Note: This will allow the retract cables to come outwith the boom tubes.22 Support and slide the #4 boom and #3 boomtubes from the boom assembly.
