VIDEO CAPTURE: CHAPTER ONE 83Customizing Video CaptureYou can customize the way you work in Video Capture using thePreferences dialog box, opened by double-clicking the Status bar or byclicking File: Preferences [ F 6 ]. Control various aspects of VideoCapture’s behavior, such as playing files whenever opened, specifying theshuttle speed, or defining the background color of the workspace.PREFERENCES DIALOG BOX1. Play file when opened plays a video file immediately upon opening in theworkspace. When clear, the file opens on the first frame.2. Return to first frame after playing resets the video sequence to the first frameonce the clip finishes playing. When clear, the video stops on the last frame.3. Display frame numbers when playing shows each frame number in the Statusbar as it is being displayed. When clear, only the starting frame number is shown.4. Display capture options before capturing opens the Capture Video Dialogbox every time you click the Record button. When clear, Video Capture beginsrecording immediately.5. Image capture deinterlace downsamples captured images to minimize the filesize.6. Use Split dialog box for capture settings centralizes the capture propertieswith settings derived from different dialog boxes (e.g., Input Source).7.Number of recently opened files specifies how many file names are stored inthe Recent History list found in the File menu.8. Maximum shuttle speed sets the maximum speed possible when shuttlingthrough a video file. In general, set a higher speed for longer files and a lowerspeed for shorter files.9. Workspace background sets a background color or a bitmap image (BMP) asthe background in the Video Capture workspace.123456789
