108 Safety systemsPicture no: 17617j.tifControl indicator v for belt tensionersThe operation of the belt tensioners iselectronically monitored together with theairbag systems and indicated on theinstrument panel by the controlindicator v. When the ignition is switchedon, the control indicator illuminates forapprox. 4 seconds. If it does not illuminate,does not go off after 4 seconds orilluminates whilst driving, there is a fault inthe belt tensioner system or the airbagsystems, see page 117. The belt tensioneror the airbag systems may not activate ifan accident occurs.Deployment of the belt tensioners isindicated by continuous illumination of v.The system’s integrated self-diagnosticsallows faults to be quickly remedied. Haveyour Car Pass on hand when consulting aVauxhall Authorised Repairer.If control indicator v in the instrumentpanel fails, for reasons of safety, the textAIrbAG appears in the odometer display.Pressing the reset button will cause the textto disappear. It then reappears in theodometer display 10 seconds later.Importantz Accessories and other objects notspecifically approved for your vehicletype must not be affixed or placed withinthe action zone of the belt tensioners(near the belt buckles) as this couldresult in injury if the belt tensioners aretriggered.z Do not make any modifications to thecomponents of the belt tensioners, asthis will render the vehicle unroadworthy.z The belt tensioner and airbag systemcontrol electronics can be found in thecentre console area. In order to avoidmalfunctions, do not store magneticobjects in this area.z We recommend that you have the frontseats removed by a Vauxhall AuthorisedRepairer.z The belt tensioners only actuate once.Please replace belt tensioners that havebeen triggered.
