Raise the leftarm rest to avoid unintentional activation for the ISO/SAE operating mode. Avoidactuating the right hand control if the alternative control mode is selected.2.9 Transport and TowingTowingThe machine must be towed, loaded and transported according to theprocedures described within this Operator’s Manual.Transporting• The transporting vehicle must have sufficient load capacity andplatform size to safely transport the machine. Refer to section 6 of thismanual to determine the physical characteristics of the machine beforeloading and transporting.• Use OSHA-approved straps, chains or cables to securely fastened themachine to the surface of the transport.• Use the tie down points provided on the load surface of the transport.• Attach the tie down devices to the excavator at the designated tie downpoints.• Confirm that the excavator tie down procedures will prevent sideways,forward, rearward and upward motion of the excavator in the event thetransport vehicle is involved in an incident or sudden avoidancemaneuver.2.10 Safety Guidelines for MaintenanceGeneral maintenance notes• Adhere to prescribed intervals or those specified in this Operator’sManual for routine checks/inspections and maintenance on or with themachine.• For inspection and maintenance on or with the machine, ensure that alltools and service center equipment are capable of performing the tasksprescribed. Do not use malfunctioning or broken tools. Use certifiedmeasuring devices that are routinely calibrated for accuracy (torquewrench, pressure gauge, ammeter, etc.).• Replace hydraulic hoses within stipulated and appropriate intervalseven if no safety-relevant defects have been detected.• Recycle scrapped parts and drained fluids according to environmentaland hazardous material requirements. To avoid fire and healthhazards, dispose of soiled shop towels by approved methods.• Always tighten any screws, electrical connections, or hose connectionsthat may have been loosened during maintenance.• Upon completion of the maintenance and repair work, immediately refitand check any safety devices removed for set-up or maintenancepurposes.Personal safety measures• Brief the technician and the operator before beginning maintenance orrepair work. Appoint someone to supervise the activities.• Always work in groups of two when diagnosing a machine problemrequiring the engine to be running. Both persons must be trained onthe machine—one person must be seated on the seat and maintainvisual contact with the other person.
