If the NIC upgrade fails for any reason you will receive anerror page explaining what failed (for example, if you send an Ethernetflash to a Token Ring NIC, the error tells you it is the wrong firmware/cardcombination).After the UpgradeAfter a successful Printer (ESS) upgrade all printer features will be set tothe factory defaults. You will need to reset key settings in the printer. Some of these parameters include settings that allow you to print to theprinter. Print a PrintSettings page and make sure the network settings are as you expect.Resetting parameters should not be necessary for a NIC only upgrade. After a successful ESS upgrade, using the directions in the section labeledCheck the following before the Upgrade, print out a new Print SettingsPage and Diagnostics page. Compare the original settings page with thenew one. Items that may be different include: Serial Number, AppletalkName, Timeout settings, Novell Settings (Primary Server, Print ServerName, Tree and Context), TCP/IP Settings (IP Address, Subnet Mask,Default Gateway).
