VX-3R O PERATING M ANUAL62PROGRAMMABLE (BAND LIMIT) MEMORY SCAN (PMS)This feature allows you to set sub-band limits for either scanning or manual VFO opera-tion. For example, you might wish to set up a limit (in North America) of 144.300 MHz to148.000 MHz, to prevent encroachment into the SSB/CW “Weak Signal” portion of theband below 144.300 MHz. Here’s how to do this:1. Set the radio to the VFO mode by pressing the [V/M] key, if necessary.2. Using the techniques learned earlier in the above procedures, store 144.300 MHz intoMemory Channel #L1L1L1L1L1 (the “L” designates the Lower sub-band limit).3. Likewise, store 148.000 MHz into Memory Channel #U1U1U1U1U1 (the “U” designates theUpper sub-band limit).4. Set the radio to the Memory mode by pressing the [V/M] key.5. Press and hold in the [BAND] key for one second and rotate theDIAL knob while holding in the [BAND] key to select the de-sired PMS frequency pair (PMSxxPMSxxPMSxxPMSxxPMSxx). Then release the [BAND]key to initiate the Programmable (Band Limit) Memory Scan. The Memory Channel number will be replaced by “PxxPxxPxxPxxPxx”. Tuningand scanning will now be limited within the just-programmedrange.Note: Do not forget to pull the DIAL knob to rotate the DIAL knob.6. 50 pairs of Band Limit memories, labeled L1L1L1L1L1/U1U1U1U1U1 through L50L50L50L50L50/U50U50U50U50U50 are available. Youtherefore can set upper and lower operation limits on a number of bands, if you like.SCANNING
