70ZONE 2 Special considerations whenusing DTS softwareThe DTS signal is a digital bitstream. Therefore, if youattempt to send the DTS signal to the second room, youwill only be able to hear the digital noise sound that coulddamage your speakers.Due to this characteristic of DTS encoded discs, thefollowing considerations and adjustments need to bemade.For LDs or DVDs encoded with DTSOnly 2-channel analog audio signals may be sent to thesecond room, as follows:• LDsSet your LD player’s left and right outputs to theanalog soundtrack.• DVDsUse the disc menu to set the DVD player’s mixed 2-channel left and right audio outputs to the PCM orDolby Digital soundtrack.For CDs encoded with DTSDO NOT USE the Zone 2 feature for CDs encoded withDTS to avoid unexpected noise.Remote Control in Zone 2In the second room (Zone 2), the supplied remote controlcan be used for the Zone 2 remote control. You can selectthe input source and control the component which islocated in the main room directly from the second roomregardless of the listening condition in the main room.Before starting the following procedure, set REC OUT/ZONE 2 on the front panel to SOURCE/REMOTE.1 Repeat steps 1 and 2 of the procedure in“Setting the Manufacturer Code” on page 44.2 Press l / h to select “L:AMP”.3 Press k / n to select “Zone2”.4 Press LEARN to complete the Zone 2 setup.5 Press SOURCE SELECT k to display“Zone2” in the display window.6 Press an input selector button to select theinput source you want to watch or listen toin the second room.The display window shows “2: name of selectedinput” if the remote control is in the Zone 2 mode.Note• The MUTE button on the remote control works for the secondroom. However Zone 2 volume cannot be adjusted with theremote control.
