Periodic maintenanceprevents unexpected downtime, reduces thenumber of accidents due to poor machineperformance and helps extend the life of theengine.Performing Periodic MaintenancePerform periodic maintenance procedures in anopen, level area free from traffic. If possible,perform the procedures indoors to preventenvironmental conditions, such as rain, wind, orsnow, from damaging the machine.The Importance of Daily ChecksPeriodic Maintenance Schedules assume that thedaily checks are performed on a regular basis.Make it a habit of performing daily checks beforethe start of each shift. See Daily Checks onpage 44.Keep a Log of Engine Hours andDaily ChecksKeep a log of the number of hours the engine isrun each day and a log of the daily checksperformed. Also note the date, type of repair(e.g., replaced alternator), and parts needed forany service needed between the periodicmaintenance intervals. Periodic maintenanceintervals are every 50, 250, 500, 1000, 1500 and2000 engine hours. Failure to perform periodicmaintenance will shorten the life of the engine.Yanmar Replacement PartsYanmar recommends that you use genuineYanmar parts when replacement parts areneeded.
