Position an approved container under the dieselfuel tank (Figure 5-9, (1)) to collect thecontaminates.2. Remove the fuel cap (Figure 5-9, (3)).3. Remove the drain plug (Figure 5-9, (2)) of thefuel tank to drain the contaminates (water, dirt,etc.) from the bottom of the tank.Figure 5-9Every 250 Hours of OperationA DANGERFIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD!• Diesel fuel is flammable and explosiveunder certain conditions.• When you remove any fuel systemcomponent to perform maintenance(such as changing the fuel filter) placean approved container under theopening to catch the fuel.• NEVER use a shop rag to catch thefuel. Vapors from the rag areflammable and explosive.• Wipe up any spills immediately.• Wear eye protection. The fuel systemis under pressure and fuel could sprayout when you remove any fuel systemcomponent.• Failure to comply will result in death orserious injury.0000009enCAUTION• ALWAYS be environmentallyresponsible.• Follow the guidelines of the EPA orother governmental agencies for theproper disposal of hazardousmaterials such as engine oil, dieselfuel and engine coolant.
