48 CHAPTER 3: NBX M ESSAGINGPhantom Mailbox A phantom mailbox does not have an actual telephone associated with it.The administrator sets up a phantom mailbox.Examples:■ If you are a sales representative who travels constantly for yourorganization and never comes into the office, you still need a way toreceive telephone messages. Using your phantom mailbox, you canretrieve, forward, and save messages in the same way that any otheremployee can but without a physical telephone connected to yourNBX system.■ If you are an employee who lives a long distance from your office andworks from home, customers and others can leave messages in theyour phantom mailbox and you can call in to the NBX system toretrieve them, or you can listen to them from the NBX NetSet™ utility.You retrieve messages from a phantom mailbox in the same way that youretrieve messages from a personal mailbox. See “Listening to NBXMessages” earlier in this chapter.Group Mailbox A group mailbox is a voice mailbox from which a group of users canretrieve messages. Your administrator creates group mailboxes and canexplain how to retrieve messages that are left in the group mailbox.Example:■ During nonbusiness hours, the system can send incoming telephonecalls for your sales department to a group mailbox. Your administratorassigns to the appropriate sales people the ability to listen to, forward,or otherwise handle all messages that are directed to the groupmailbox.
