Installation ManualH3C S7500 Series Ethernet Switches Chapter 3 Installation Preparations3-2Caution:Never attempt to lift the chassis by holding the handles on the power modules, orventilation holes because they were not designed to support the weight of the chassis.Otherwise, device damage or even bodily injury may occur.3.1.4 ESD Damage PreventionTo prevent electronic components of the switch from being damaged by electrostaticdischarge (ESD), you should not only take measures against ESD damage where theswitch is located, but also take the following precautions:z Always wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap when installing components,especially boards of the switch.z Hold the bottom or ejector levers when installing or removing a board. Do nottouch any electronic component or PCB.Take the following steps to use the ESD-preventive wrist strap.1) Wear the ESD-preventive wrist strap and ensure it makes good skin contact.2) Insert one end of the ESD-preventive wrist strap into the ESD-preventive wriststrap hole in the switch chassis or use an alligator clip to attach the other end tothe grounding screw on the chassis, making sure that the ESD-preventive wriststrap is well grounded.Note:An ESD-preventive wrist strap is shipped with the S7500 series.There is an ESD-preventive wrist strap hole above the SRPU slot in the S7500 seriesswitch chassis. The grounding screw is located on the power distribution box at thebottom rear of the chassis.Caution:For the safety purpose, check the resistance of the ESD-preventive wrist strap, whichshould be between 1 to 10 Megohm.
