Managing System Alarms 171DS1/E1 UNI Module AlarmsTable 28 describes the alarms specific to the DS1 UNI and E1 UNI modules.ATM Forum required alarms are indicated by the notation ATM Forum (R-xxx),where xxx is the required alarm number.Table 28 DS1/E1 UNI Module AlarmsAlarm Meaning Troubleshooting StepsAFA Link Removal Automatic FrequencyAdjustment - Link removedfrom physical line group due toerror rate in CRC check ofT1/E1 exceeding user specifiedrate for a given period of time.Check the removed link for the CRCerrors.Bad IMA ID A link within the group hasreceived an IMA ID from the farend that is different than whenthe group was initialized (andfrom the other links in thegroup). The link with the badIMA ID is probablymisconnected.Check the links for proper connection.Reconnect if necessary.Bad Link ID Each IMA group assigns aunique Transmit link ID to eachlink in the group. This link IDshould match the Receive linkID of the remote end IMAdevice. This alarm means that alink was operating correctly, but then received a Transmitlink ID already assigned to aprevious link.A Tx Misconnected alarm isalso generated.Check the links for proper connection.Reconnect if necessary.Bad M The far end frame size M haschanged in an IMA link. The maximum value for theframe size on the local device’sserial card must match themaximum value for the framesize of the connected device. The link with the BAD M isprobably misconnected.Check to make sure the maximumframe size is set to the same value onthe local and remote ends.Bad Offset Far end ICP cell offset haschanged in an IMA link. Each IMA group assigns aunique Transmit offset to eachlink in the group. This alarmmeans that a link wasoperating correctly, but thenreceived a Transmit offsetalready assigned to a previouslink.A Tx Misconnected alarm isalso generated.Check the links for proper connection.Reconnect if necessary.(continued)
