Managing System Alarms 177SIM AlarmsTable 30 describes the alarms specific to QSIMs and FAMsVoice Compression Module AlarmsTable 29 describes the major alarms specific to the Voice Compression module..Transmit FIFOOverflowThe cell bus is congested, andcells are backed up on the CBR.Traffic at the output side of theCBR port is being transmittedmore slowly than it is beingreceived from the cell bus. As aresult, the output buffer isoverflowing. In general, theproblem is that the CBRconnection is not synchronizedend-to-end. The clock rate ofthe output port does notmatch the clock rate of thedevice from which the trafficoriginated. The entire CBR connection must besynchronous end-to-end. Make surethe clock rates of the devices at eitherend of the connection match eachother and match the transmit clock rateof the CBR ports on the PathBuilderdevice.VC RDI Receive VC RDI (Remote DefectIndication) OAM received inthe connection. The far endequipment has a problem withthe signal it is receiving, indicating that the problem liesbetween the network providerand the far end terminalequipment for this connection.Check for a defective cable betweenthe far end interface port and yourservice provider's network interfaceunit. An open transmit line can causethis condition.Table 30 QSIM AlarmsAlarm Meaning Troubleshooting StepsLMI Link Down The Local ManagementInterface has taken the linkdown.Check the LMI protocol configurationfor the port.Table 31 Voice Compression Module AlarmsAlarm Meaning Troubleshooting StepsE1 Loss of CASMultiframeE1 signaling multiframealignment has been lost.Check the physical connection and thecarrier for configuration problems.E1 Time Channel 16AIS RcvAll 1s in E1 time slot 16 for 2consecutive frames.Make sure both the local device andthe far end device are configured forTime Slot 16 framing. If both devicesare correctly configured, there may bea hardware problem in either device.Far End E1 Loss ofCASThe far end device has lostChannel Associated signaling.Check the E1 configuration of the farend device.Channel PCMLoopbackConditionA loopback is configured onthe channel. Loopbacks are fortroubleshooting only andshould not be present duringnormal operating conditions. If you are not troubleshooting thechannel, turn off the loopback.Table 29 DSX-1/E1 CBR Module Alarms (continued)
