912 CHAPTER 73: CLUSTER M ANAGEMENT CONFIGURATIONc CAUTION: Disabling the NDP and NTDP functions on the management device andmember devices after a cluster is created will not cause the cluster to be dismissed, but will influence the normal operation of the cluster.Configuring theManagement DeviceEnabling NDP Globallyand for Specific PortsFollow these steps to enable NDP globally and for specific ports:c CAUTION:■ For NDP to work normally, you must enable NDP both globally and on thespecified port.■ If the subtending port or the port connecting the management device to amember/candidate device is a port of a member in an aggregation group, youmust enable NDP on all member ports of the aggregation group at the sametime. Otherwise, NDP will work abnormally.■ You are recommended to disable NDP on the port which connects with thedevices that do not need to join the cluster, preventing the management devicefrom adding the device which needs not to join the cluster and collecting thetopology information of this device.Configuring NDPParametersFollow these steps to configure NDP parameters:c CAUTION: The time for the receiving device to hold NDP packets cannot beshorter than the interval to send NDP packets; otherwise, the NDP table maybecome instable.Enabling NTDP Globallyand for Specific PortsFollow these steps to enable NTDP globally and for specific ports:To do… Use the command… RemarksEnter system view system-view -Enable NDP globally ndp enable OptionalEnabled by default.Enable theNDP featurefor the port(s)In system view ndp enable interfaceinterface-listUse either commandBy default, NDP is enabledglobally and also on all ports. In Ethernetport viewinterface interface-typeinterface-numberndp enableTo do… Use the command… RemarksEnter system view system-view -Configure the period for thereceiving devices to keep theNDP packetsndp timer aging aging-time Optional180 seconds by default.Configure the interval to sendNDP packetsndp timer hello hello-time Optional60 seconds by default.
