set auto-config 49When the 3WXM server in the corporate network receives theconfiguration request, the server looks in the currently open networkplan for a switch configuration with the same model and serial number asthe one in the configuration request. If the network plan contains a configuration with a matching modeland serial number, 3WXM sends the configuration to the switch andrestarts the switch. The switch boots using the configuration itreceived from 3WXM. If the network plan does not have a configuration with a matchingmodel and serial number, a verification warning appears in 3WXM.The warning lists the switch’s serial number and IP address. Thenetwork administrator can upload the switch into the network plan, configure switch parameters, and deploy the configuration to theswitch. To use the auto-config option with a new (unconfigured) WXR100, inserta paperclip or similar object into the WXR100’s factory reset hole to pressthe switch. The factory reset switch must be held for about 3 secondswhile the factory reset LED (the right LED above port 1) is lit. Normally, this LED remains solidly lit for 3 seconds after power on. However, whenthe factory reset switch is pressed, the LED flashes for 3 seconds instead. If you want another WX switch model to be able to access a 3WXMserver for a configuration, you also must preconfigure the WX with thefollowing information: IP address Gateway address Domain name and DNS server addressYou can enable the switch to use the MSS DHCP client to obtain thisinformation from a DHCP server in the local network where the switchwill be deployed. Alternatively, you can statically configure theinformation. The IP address and DNS information are configured independently. Youcan configure the combination of settings that work with the networkresources available at the deployment site. The following examples showsome of the combinations you can configure.
