Two transfer methods are available for use in updat-ing any modules that contain Flash memory, including the system controller ofthe ATLAS. The first transfer method provided is via the ATLAS Chain-In portusing XMODEM protocol. The second transfer method provided by ATLAS is viathe ATLAS built-in Ethernet port using TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol). Tosimplify the update procedure, a common menu interface is available for use inupdating any upgradable module within ATLAS. The following sections describethe procedure for updating using either transfer method. Please consult the appropriate ATLAS module manual to determine if the modulesupports flash upgrading.XMODEM FIRMWARE UPDATINGThe ATLAS_800PLUS supports firmware updating to any upgradable moduleusing XMODEM transfer protocol via the base unit’s Chain-In port. This transferprotocol can be found in most PC communications software packages. To config-ure the Chain-In port’s data rate and other communication parameters, consultthe Chain Port Configuration section in the chapter “Installation” on page 2-1.Ensure the communications software package being used has flow control turnedoff.Update Firmware Using XMODEM1. Obtain the appropriate update file for the particular module from ADTRANTechnical Support. For more information on how to contact ADTRANTechnical Support, refer to “Warranty and Technical Support Information” onpage C-1.2. Log in to ATLAS using a VT-100 terminal emulation communication softwarepackage which contains XMODEM protocol support.
