PIN CONFIGURATIONSOverview• About General Purpose Inputs & Outputs (GPIO)• Pin configurations of the communication ports• Pin configurations of the ICMP communication ports• Pin configurations of the inputs17.1 About General Purpose Inputs & Outputs (GPIO)The Barco Cinema Controller and the Barco ICMP are equipped with GPIO ports. The electrical specificationsdescribed in this chapter are the same for both GPIO ports.General Purpose inputsThe Barco Cinema Controller and the Barco ICMP have each eight (8) opto-isolated general purpose inputs available. These inputsare used to trigger the execution of macro files. For more explanation about the association of a macro to a GPI, consult the userguide of the Communicator.Input voltageThe inputs can be directly driven from a TTL or CMOS output.• The shape of the pulse must be rectangular.• The duration of the pulse must be at least 50 milliseconds (shorter pulses are considered as a switch bounce)• Minimum voltage : V min = +5V• Maximum voltage : V max = +18VExternal power supplyWhen interfacing with contact closure outputs, an external power supply needs to be provided. Depending upon the configuration asuitable pull-up resistor needs to be added as well.10k820RGPIn PGPIn PGPIn NGPIn N4.7VInput to projector Internal projector1k1+5Vto+18V10k820RGPIn PGPIn PGPIn NGPIn N4.7VInput to projector Internal projector1k1+5Vto+18VImage 17-1CablesWhen long cable connections are required the use of shielded cables with twisted pairs is recommended. One twisted pair is to beassigned to each GP Input pair. How to make the connectionWhen the power supply used to provide the DC voltage is isolated from ground (for example in the case of an AC adapter) it isrecommended that the minus pole of that power supply is connected to ground (or to the projector chassis). This will avoid highcommon mode voltages at the projector GP Inputs. If that same power supply is used for other parts of the system, take care not tocreate ground loops. In any case when shielded cables are used that shield should be connected to the projector chassis.General Purpose outputsThe Barco Cinema Controller and the Barco ICMP have each eight (8) opto-isolated outputs available. Four (4) of the outputs onthe Cinema Controller are dedicated for TI. The other general purpose outputs can be controlled via software.About an outputThe output can generate a falling edge, rising edge, toggle or continuous toggle.R5906753 DPXK BLP SERIES 20/11/2017 159
