Aninterface can be set to have one or more destination interfaces. Forexample, interface 1 can be set as a source interface with threedestinations, interfaces 2, 3, and 4. Traffic from interface 1 is thenautomatically redirected to interfaces 2, 3, and 4. Interface 1 can alsoserve as a destination interface for other ports. The port redirect function is extremely useful for troubleshootingpurposes, as it enables traffic to be sent to a particular interface(s) where, with the use of an analyzer or RMON probe, all current traffic from thesource interface(s) can be examined.NOTEThe Port Redirect Function screen is only used if theoperational mode of the device has been set to 802.1dSWITCHING. Refer to Section 5.7.9, Setting the OperationalMode for instructions on configuring the device to operate inthis mode.NOTEAlthough all traffic from the source port (including, if desired, error frames) is sent to the destination port, normal switching isstill performed for all frames on the source port.
