CHAPTER 11: DEVICE STATISTICS SCREEN11-2EMM-E6 User’s Guide11.1 DEVICE STATISTICSThis section describes Device Statistics screen data fields.BYTES RECEIVEDDisplays the number of bytes received.FRAMES RECEIVEDDisplays the number of frames received.FRAMES FILTEREDDisplays the total number of frames filtered.FRAMES TRANSMITTEDDisplays the total number of frames transmitted.ERRORS RECEIVEDDisplays the total number of errors received.COLLISIONSDisplays the number of collisions received.OOW COLLISIONSDisplays the number of Out Of Window collisions. OOW collisionsare usually caused by: The network being so long that the round trippropagation delay is greater than 51.2 μs (the collision domain is toolarge); a station somewhere on the network violating Carrier Senseand transmitting at will; or a cable somewhere on the network failingduring the transmission of a packet.CRC ERRORSDisplays the number of packets with bad Cyclic Redundancy Checks(CRC) that have been received from the network. The CRC is a 4 bytefield in the data packet that ensures that the transmitted data that isreceived is the same as the data that was originally sent.ALIGNMENT ERRORSDisplays the number of errors due to misaligned packets. Misalignedpackets contain a non-integral number of bytes (i.e., some bytescontain fewer than 8 bits).
