5-6 Paper Handling Chapter 5Setting the Paper Thickness LeverThe paper thickness lever adjusts the gap between the BJ cartridge print head and the printmedia to suit the print media’s thickness. Before printing, be sure to set the paper thicknesslever.For details on which position to set the paper thickness lever for the print media you areusing, → p. 5-2.nIf the paper thickness lever is not set correctly before printing, poor print quality may occur.Follow this procedure to set the paper thickness lever:1 Open the document tray (MultiPASS modelsonly).2 Lift the document guides to open the printercover.• If the printer cover does not open easily, slide thedocument guides outwards and then open theprinter cover.3 Press C.c • Do not try to manually move or stopthe cartridge holder since this maydamage the unit.• Do not touch the components shownor any metal parts since this mayadversely affect operation of the unitand/or affect print quality.Document guidesRound shaft Guide railRibbon cable
