102Using the Built-in FlashFE (flash exposure) lock obtains and locks the correct flash exposurereading for any part of a subject.1 Press the <D> button to pop-upthe built-in flash.Press the shutter button halfway andlook in the viewfinder to check thatthe <D> icon is lit.2 Focus the subject.3 Press the <A> button. (8)Aim the viewfinder center over thesubject where you want to lock the flashexposure, then press the <A> button.X The flash will fire a preflash and therequired flash output is calculatedand retained in memory.X In the viewfinder, “FEL” is displayedfor a moment and <d> will light.Each time you press the <A> button, apreflash is fired and the required flash outputis calculated and retained in memory.4 Take the picture.Compose the shot and press theshutter button completely.X The flash is fired to take the picture.A FE LockNIf the subject is too far away and beyond the effective range of the flash, the<D> icon will blink. Get closer to the subject and repeat steps 2 to 4.
