1437Clearing Paper JamsRestarting a print after clearing a paper jamOnce the paper jam has been cleared, restart the print job as follows:1 Close the top cover. The Alarm indicator goes off.2 Press Go to resume printing.The setting of the JAM RECOVERY feature in the CONFIG MENU determines howthe printer recovers after a paper jam (see page 72).■ With jam recovery off, the printer does not automatically resume printing after thepaper jam has been cleared. You must start the print job again from your softwareapplication. You may want to use this setting to conserve memory.■ With jam recovery on, the printer reserves enough memory to hold data for a pagethat jams and automatically resumes printing the jammed page again. With thissetting, printing speed is slightly slower. Use this setting if you have sufficientmemory available.■ Jam recovery can be set for PCL and PS personalities.zzzzz Face-up tray areaGently pull out any jammed paper, as shown.If the jammed paper cannot be easily removed, do not force it. This canhappen when the trailing edge of the paper is still within the paper feed area.The pressure from the pressure roller must be released before the removingthe paper. To do this, open the top cover and follow the instructions (page146) to hold the green lever and flip the transfer guide up. Then, try removingthe jammed paper from this area. After removing the paper, gently guide thetransfer guide back to its original position.
