332Printing from the Multi-Purpose TrayPrinting from the Multi-Purpose TrayThe Multi-Purpose tray can hold a variety of print media: plain paper, envelopes,labels, transparencies and non-standard size paper. The capacity is approximately 100sheets of cut-sheet paper (80 g/m2 or 21 lbs.). When not in use, the tray can fold upinto the printer.Guidelines for using the Multi-Purpose tray• Print quality and printer life are greatly affected by what and how the print mediais used. Please read the “Print Media Specifications” section in Appendix 3 toensure the correct print media is used.• Use of print media not meeting the paper requirements may cause severe paper jamsor result in excessive mechanical wear of the printer.• Do not use the following paper in the tray:– Moist paper– Paper that is wavy, curled or damaged– Folded, clipped or stapled paper– Paper with cut-outs or perforations (not recommended)– Paper containing materials that melt, vaporize, offset, discolor or emit dangerousfumes at a temperature of 190°C (374°F) or higherAvoid pressing or applying excessive force on the tray as this may causedamage.• The paper stack must not exceed the paper limit mark.• Do not load different paper sizes on the tray at the same time.• Do not add paper to the tray if paper is already loaded; incorrect paper feedor a paper jam may occur. Only add paper when the tray is empty.• If printed pages come out of the printer all curled up, you can correct theproblem by turning over the paper stack in the tray so that the bottom sheetin the stack is now at the top.• If the leading edge of the paper is curled, straighten it out as much aspossible before loading it into the tray.
