12-2 Maintenance Chapter 12Periodic CleaningYour MultiPASS requires little periodic maintenance. This section describes thenecessary cleaning procedures for your MultiPASS. Please note the following beforecleaning your unit:• Be sure to disconnect the power cord before cleaning the MultiPASS. Sincedocuments in memory are erased when the power is disconnected, print anydocuments stored in memory before disconnecting the power cord. (1 pp. 7-16, 8-15,8-17)• Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning; they can stickto the components or generate static charges.c Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemicalcleaner to clean the interior of the MultiPASS; these can damage the MultiPASScomponents.Cleaning the MultiPASS’ ExteriorClean the MultiPASS’ outer casing as follows:1 Disconnect the power cord from theMultiPASS.2 Wipe the MultiPASS’ exterior with a clean,soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water ordiluted dishwashing detergent solution.3 When you are finished, reconnect the powercord.Cleaning the MultiPASS’ InteriorCleaning Inside the Printer CoverTo prevent ink spots and paper dust from accumulating inside the MultiPASS andaffecting print quality, clean the unit’s print area periodically as follows:1 Disconnect the power cord from theMultiPASS.2 Open the document tray.
