Setting Up a Computer as a File Server 5-155Using a NetBIOS Network (Windows)Setting Up a Computer as a File ServerTo send data from the machine to a computer on your network, you need to specifythe settings of the computer for receiving data. You can send data over a NetBIOSnetwork to a Windows shared folder. To send data from the machine to a server on the network, you mustenter an address setting from either the control panel or a web browser (Remote UI). Forinstructions on specifying recipient address settings from the control panel, see “Chapter1 Various Sending Methods” in the Sending Function Guide (imageRUNNER 105,imageRUNNER 8500, imageRUNNER 7200, imageRUNNER 5000i), or “Chapter 1Various Sending Methods” in the Sending Function/Facsimile Guide (imageRUNNER3300i). For instructions on using a web browser (Remote UI), see “Chapter 2 Functionsof the Remote UI” in the Remote UI Guide.• The following procedures describe a sample shared folder configuration. Depending onyour environment, the actual configuration procedure may differ.NOTE• You can send data over a TCP/IP network from the machine to an FTP server. Forinstructions on setting up an FTP server, see “Setting Up a Computer as a File Server” in“Chapter 3 Using a TCP/IP Network (Windows/ UNIX/Macintosh).” (See p. 3-43.)Connecting to a TCP/IP NetworkA computer that receives data sent from the machine must have TCP/IP clientsoftware installed and must be enabled for TCP/IP network use.
