Remove the power plug retaining clip (seeFigure 8-11) by pulling out gently on the left side (toclear the shorter left locking tab and rotate the rightlocking tab) and then slide up and off the plug. Pullthe plug out and away from the compressor to re-move.STEP 2STEP 1Figure 8-12. Compressor Plug Retaining ClipNOTEInspect the power plug terminals to ensurethey are not deformed or have any signs ofheat or arcing. If any damage is noted, replacethe power cable.h. Remove (slide out) the old compressor from the unitand slide the new compressor into the unit. Refer toFigure 8-10.NOTEDO NOT add any oil to the replacement com-pressor. Replacement compressor is shippedwith full oil charge of 60 oz.i.. Install the "D" ring into the square groove of thepower plugj. Inject a small amount of Dupont Krytox PerformanceLubricant into each of the pin connections in thepower plug. For ease of installation and to preventthe "D" ring from rolling, use a small amount of thelubricant to lubricate the outside radius of the "D"ring.k. Align the power plug with the cutout in the terminalfence. Insert the power plug at a slight angle allow-ing the "D" ring to start at the lower portion of theterminal fence. Apply even pressure on the back ofthe power plug until the flat surface of the plug seatsagainst the outer face of the terminal fence.l. Reinstall the plug retaining bracket or molded plugretainer as required.m. Install the four base-mounting bolts loosely.n. Place new Teflon seals at the compressor suctionand discharge ports. Lubricate the O-ring, back sideof sleeves and coupling nut and put in place at theeconomizer line connection port. Hand tighten allthree connections.o. Torque the four base-mounting screws to 126 Nm(93 ft-lbs.).p. Using a backup wrench, torque the compressorconnections as follows:Service Valve / Connection Torque ValueSuction and DischargeRotalocks109 to 136 Nm(80 to 100 ft-lbs.)Economizer Connection 32 to 36 Nm(24 to 27 ft-lbs.)q. Connect the new compressor discharge tempera-ture sensor (CDT) connector. Wire-tie any loose wir-ing as appropriate.r. Backseat the suction and discharge service valves.Leak check, evacuate the unit and charge in ac-cordance with sections 8.5.2, 8.5.3 & 8.5.4.CAUTIONThe scroll compressor achieves low suc-tion pressure very quickly. Do not use thecompressor to evacuate the system below0 psig. Never operate the compressor withthe suction or discharge service valvesclosed (frontseated). Internal damage willresult from operating the compressor in adeep vacuum.s. Following installation of a replacement compressor, the oil level in the unit may be above the requiredlevel. Adjust the oil level in accordance with the in-structions packaged with the replacement compres-sor.8.6.2 Evaporator CoilCleaningThe use of recycled cardboard cartons is increasingacross the country. The recycled cardboard cartonscreate much more fiber dust during transport than"new" cartons. The fiber dust and particles are drawninto the evaporator where they lodge between theevaporator fins. If the coil is not cleaned on a regularbasis, sometimes as often as after each trip, the ac-cumulation can be great enough to restrict air flow, cause coil icing, repetitive defrosts and loss of unitcapacity. Due to the "washing" action of normal defrostthe fiber dust and particles may not be visible on theface of the coil but may accumulate deep within. It is recommended that the evaporator coil be cleanedon a regular basis, not only to remove cardboard dust, but to remove any grease or oil film which may coatthe fins and prevent water from draining into the drainpan.Cardboard fiber particles after being wetted and driedseveral times can be very hard to remove. Therefore, several washings may be necessary.a. Remove rubber check valves (Kazoo) from drainlines on front of trailer.b. Spray coil with a mild detergent solution (such asOakite 202) or any good commercial grade automat-ic dish washer detergent such as Electrosol or Cas-cade, let the solution stand for a few minutes and
