This combination of bar code data andsupplementary user-defined data is called a “message string.” The features inthis chapter can be used to build specific user-defined data into a messagestring.There are several types of selectable data characters that can be sent beforeand after scanned data. You can specify if they should be sent with all symbol-ogies, or only with specific symbologies. Figure 49 shows the available ele-ments you can add to a message string.Figure 49.
